Lying atop the Mountains of the Congo Nile divide, Kibira National Park covers a total area of 400 square kilometers. It is located in the North Western Burundi and stretches from Muramvya, a town that overlooks the border of Rwanda.
Its montane forest, bogs and bamboo forests are home to several mammal species and 200 bird species. Adding to the primate species like chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, visitors to this park enjoy views of unique bird species like the mountain buzzard, great blue turaco, grey parrot, white spotted fluff tail, black and white casqued hornbill and bar tailed trogon.
Visitors to the park get there through the pygmies’ village named Busekera, a place that is great for cultural encounters.
