This Park is one of the reasons for most trips to Tanzania. It receives a wealth of travelers from various parts of the World.

Serengeti covers a total area of 14763 square kilometers. Its lush habitats provide home to over three millions of mammals. Among the three million mammals, two millions migrate annually in large herds north to cross the Mara River.

Serengeti National Park’s rich biodiversity consist of 0.3 m Thompson’s gazelle, 1.3 m wildebeest and 0.2 Zebras along with other Wildlife species including the African Big fives.

Travelers come in for the great Wildebeest migration which begins in June to October or November per year.

The Park’s area is engulfed by acacia savannah, with dry grasslands in its southern part, western corridor of wooded highland, and the wooded grasslands along the Grumeti and Mara Rivers.

With this good habitat it is not hard to understand why around 3,000 Lions and 500 Cheetah inhabit this enormous reserve.

The 14,763 square km of endless rolling plains reach up to the Kenyan border and extends almost to Lake Victoria.

It is concentrated with stunning wildlife. Over 3 million large mammals roam the plains. In May or early June tourists appreciate sweeping views of the annual migration of millions of zebras and wildebeest as they wander in search of water and forage.
